Install Phantom Wallet — Step‑by‑Step

Choose Your Platform

Desktop Browser Extension (most common)

  1. Open your browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave, or Firefox).
  2. Visit the link above for your browser’s store and click Add to Browser / Add to Chrome.
  3. Confirm the install prompt.
  4. Optional but recommended: Pin Phantom so it’s always visible.
    • Chrome/Edge/Brave: Click the puzzle‑piece icon → pin next to Phantom.
    • Firefox: Click the extensions icon → manage → enable toolbar button.

Mobile App (iOS / Android)

  1. Open the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
  2. Search for Phantom Wallet and confirm the publisher is Phantom Technologies, Inc.
  3. Tap Get / Install, then open the app.
  4. Allow notifications (optional) and enable Face ID/biometrics for quick unlock (recommended).
First Run

Create or Import Your Wallet

 1) Launch Phantom (click the extension icon or open the mobile app).
 2) Click “Create a new wallet” (or Import if you already have a Secret Recovery Phrase).
 3) Set a strong password you’ll remember. This locks/unlocks the app on your device.
 4) Secure your Secret Recovery Phrase (12 or 24 words):
  • Write it on paper and store offline in 2 separate places.
  • Never share it. No staff member will ever ask for it.
  • Do not screenshot or store in plain text/email.
 5) Confirm the words when prompted to verify your backup.
 6) Enable biometric unlock (mobile) or keep Phantom pinned (desktop) for easy access.
Security reminder: Your password protects access on this device only. Only your Secret Recovery Phrase can recover your wallet on a new device.
Optional Setup

Helpful Next Steps

  • Fund your wallet: For Solana apps, you’ll need a small amount of SOL for network fees. Use a reputable exchange or on‑ramp.
  • Show/test your address: Click your wallet name/address to copy it. Send a tiny test amount first.
  • Explore networks Phantom supports: Phantom supports Solana and select EVM chains (like Ethereum & Polygon). You can add more in Settings → Networks.
Note: If you’re planning to use Solana tokens (like many community tokens), Phantom is a great choice. For Binance Smart Chain (BSC) tokens, MetaMask is typically used.
Troubleshooting

Common Issues & Fixes

  • Can’t find Phantom after installing: Restart the browser and pin the extension. On mobile, swipe up to view all apps and search “Phantom”.
  • “This item is not available in your country”: Use the official download page which links to the correct regional store.
  • Concerned about fakes: Only use links on Phantom’s official site and check reviews & publisher name.
  • Lost device: Reinstall Phantom on a new device and choose Import, then enter your Secret Recovery Phrase.
